“In the products of the unconscious we discover mandala symbols” - Carl Jung
‘Mandala’ in Sanskrit simply means “center and surroundings”. The practice of a mandala is to place ourselves in the middle of it and learn to relate with the social structure and atmosphere around us as a sacred environment. Their integrated structures are pointing-out instructions towards a formless reality. Mandalas describe balance in whatever the pictorial form. In the non-dual state of consciousness such opposites as inner and outer, subjective and objective, male and female, matter and spirit, are all grasped as connected and ultimately unified.
‘Formless Form’ is a series of architectural mandalas created from source images taken during the photo shoot for ‘the LAMDA Development’ photo book; an assignment to capture the real estate assets of the company through the lens of the theme ‘Shapes & Balance’.
